On July 8 and 9, 2019 Dr. Kim Harris, C.Psych, and Rachel Braden, MSW, presented to a number of Crown Attorneys from across Ontario at ‘Crown School’, a professional development conference for Crown Attorneys from across the province. Sessions were held this year at Western University’s Faculty of Law.
Dr. Harris and Rachel Braden were joined by LFCC’s courthouse facility dogs, Merel and Yzer, along with the dogs’ brother, Iggy, who works at Boost Child & Youth Advocacy Centre in Toronto. Braden and Dr. Harris’ presentations included “Accredited Facility Dogs in Court”, as well as “Assessing for Necessity: Khan Applications.”
“It is great to be able to share the success of our facility dog program and the specialized assessments that the London Family Court Clinic is able to provide to a large group of legal professionals. Ultimately this education serves the best interests of children involved in the justice system,” said Braden. “Plus, it’s a great chance for the sibling pups to catch up.”
